What are you most passionate about in terms of Dentistry?
I am passionate about ensuring my patients have access to the best advice for long-term preventative health, as well as giving them ultimate control of their dental destiny. Patients need options, I offer the information needed to empower them.
Where is your family from?
I was born in London , my Dad is a Doctor and he was studying in London at the time. I came to Australia when I was 10.
What is the best way a person can take charge of their health?
Through their diet, brushing and getting regular checkups.
Tell me about your previous practice?
I have had my own practice in the past, but I wanted to focus on the understanding the dentistry, helping patients while looking after my children. I worked in Westmead in Special Needs (patients who are mentally disabled) childrens department. I had my first practice at Eastwood (wasn’t my dream practice) so then I completed my education in dentistry technology so I can keep up to date and look after my family. I had a particular ideal vision dream I wanted to realise. This is the practice – the patient and the dentist work together and to be supported by the staff.
Whats the most important thing about preventative dentistry?
Being in Control. My role is to guide the patient to go down the right track so not to cause damage and destruction long-term.
Tell me about your family?
I have 3 children 24, 15 and 11 … and a dog (Rhodesian Ridgeback)
What do you do to relax out of hours?
I enjoy spending time with my kids, walking and working on my business. My lifetime goal is to be a knitter!
Whats your main focus?
Childrens dentistry – airway – and growth are all essential. We can solve problems with early intervention with children which can become very orthodontically complicated at the age of 15.
Anything else you want to add?
I think there is a lot of artistry in dentistry! Dentistry is the same as architecture or engineering as it involves problem solving and fixing structural issues. Dentistry is a great career because you’re helping people solve problems.
